I came across her on Instagram and she immediately caught my attention. The words that came to my mind were: Fierce, Classy, Edgy, RESPECT. I wanted to know more about her, so I looked her up. Turns out she is Maye Musk, a 67 year old professional model who started modeling at the age of 15 and has been working in the industry for five decades. She is represented by agencies worldwide and is also very successful in running her own nutrition business.

What caught my attention was that, although she is older, she is still edgy and sharp.

 Do you want to look like that as you get older? “Of course” you may say “but I’m no model!” No, we are not models. In fact, as we grow older we begin to feel invisible! In an effort to keep the attention that seems to be rapidly slipping away, I notice that many women around my age are portraying themselves, especially on Facebook, in a more “sexy” way. And, yes, these images get a lot of attention. But the word RESPECT never comes to my mind when I look at those photos!

I like a quote I saw recently: “I’d rather be somebody’s Sunday than their Saturday night”

No, we are not models but we can still be Edgy and Sharp at any Age without diminishing ourselves in the process! And we CAN exhibit respect in the way we portray ourselves.
